Njala University Alumni (North America Chapter) welcomed the Vice Chancellor/Principal of Njala University with a dinner held at Betty Jalloh's residence. It was well attended with guests including Dr. Yembeh Mansaray, Dr. Charles Kargbo, and Mrs. Pamela Prat-Sensie. The chairman of the Alumni welcomed Dr. Sesay and invited him to address the gathering.

In his speech, Dr. Sesay intimated that Njala University and the University of Illinois have signed a memorandum of understanding rekindling the historic ties links between both universities. He was in the US as a guest to Professor Paul McNamara who is the head of Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics and Division of Nutritional Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Sesay thanked the gathering and expressed his commitment to working with the Alumni. He further invited the alumni to meet with his hosts with the aim of establishing a working relationship. He took questions from alumni members explaining the challenges he is faced with and emphasized the role the alumni could play in helping him solve some of these problems
